It is interesting to look at aduring a hurricane, one of an early and sunny, warm fall day. Hurricane Sandy is going to hit not too long from now and while I have power, I wanted to write a bit. The sky is dark and the clouds are whipping by. Gale force winds are beating down upon the house with the threat of damage.
Looking at this photo is in direct conflict with the mood of the day, but it provides me some comfort. Plus the smell of food cooking from the kitchen. I guess even the news reporting the inevitable is of comfort right now. Familiarity.
This pinhole shot was taken a few weeks ago at the Fire Island Lighthouse. It is a five shot with panning, taken on Ektar 100. This is also one of my first 6×6 shots employed.
I have never really noticed this beach house on the left side of thebefore, just never paid attention to it I guess. Funny how the camera forces you to pay attention. I couldn’t really find why this building is here, or what it was for. I do not think it was the boathouse…maybe it is just another storage area used by the Keeper? Regardless, I thought it looked really cool with its colored roof and walkway.
Well, I suppose there is not much more to say about the photo. I hope you all enjoy it. If any of you are weathering the storm like me, be safe and smart. And look forward to days captured above.
